This course explores employment laws that apply to new and growing businesses, especially those where innovative products, services, or technology are important. Anticipated topics include: defining the employment relationship, critical terms and conditions of employment, ending the employment relationship, post-employment duties and protections, and dispute resolution processes. Discussion will include some relevant business law and intellectual property issues.
The course will be interactive, including discussion of readings, and negotiating and drafting exercises. Students, working in small groups, will research the laws and issues in a particular industry, setting, or jurisdiction.
